Kinusaiga No-Sew Fabric ArtIn Your Spare TimeAdults (or 13+ with adult) Slow down, get creative, and join us for what will become your new favorite hobby...Japanese-inspired Kinusaiga art! Come learn the relaxing process of turning fabric scraps into a beautiful, no-sew collage that has been described as “painting with fabric”. This is a fun collage craft that is a cross between quilting and stained glass windows. Your finished piece will be 8" x8", and will include a wood frame for display. All supplies are included in the class fee. Tools and extra fabric are available to take home if you don't finish your project during the class time. PATTERN SELECTION & CUTTING Several patterns will be available to choose from in class. You will learn the entire process, from cutting your selected pattern into your board with an exacto-knife to helpful hints tucking fabric. If you would prefer not to cut your own pattern, a few precut options are available. Kolacky: A Czech StapleCulinaryKolaches are a traditional Czechoslovakian filled sweet bread. With the immigration to America, Kolaches have evolved to look and taste different, with each baker making them to suit their region. Some are a closed bread roll, some are pastry-like and open and yet another more like a thumbprint cookie. All originate from Europe and all are filled with yummy preserves. Come learn about the history of Kolaches, create your own to take home, and enjoy the ethnic tastes of today. Please bring a large, flat container to bring them home in. If you would like to bring an additional person to class to help prepare your treats, you may add them to your registration for an extra $5. Let's Probate an Actual Minnesota Estate (Online)Business, Career & FinanceIn this class, we will do an in-depth walkthrough of an actual Minnesota Probate Estate from the filing of the application for probate to the final accounts - and all the steps in between. Class participants will learn the entire process with current forms, court and filing requirements, accounting and procedural steps, as well as the procedures for the sale and distribution of estate assets. We will also discuss the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of a person who is appointed as the executor/personal representative. The class will be filled with real-life examples and solutions to the multitude of issues involving a typical (or not typical) Minnesota probate estate. This class encourages questions: Is there a “reading of the will”? What about personal items? Does the executor get paid? What about estate bills and creditors? Lifeguard CertificationThis blended learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skills session. Online must be completed before attending the first in-class date. You will be sent the online portion approximately 1 week before the course start date. This class provides entry-level participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Requirements to become lifeguard certified are: At least 15 years of age 300 yd. endurance swim using front crawl and/or breaststroke Complete a timed skill sequence including a 20 yd. swim, retrieval of a 10 lb. object from 7 ft. deep, swim 20 yd. carrying the object and exit the water within 1 min. and 40 sec.
