You may sit in a chair or lay on the floor for the hypnosis part of class. Dress comfortably and bring a pillow, and blanket, sleeping bag or bean bag for additional comfort. The fee includes the class and a lifetime membership card for future reinforcement. A flash drive of the hypnosis session can be purchased from the instructor the night of the class for $15. Young basketball hoopsters are invited to join our team of skilled coaches as we hoop it up on the court. Using adjustable basketball hoops and smaller basketballs, girls will learn basic offensive and defensive fundamentals, team concepts, and an understanding of game rules. Jr. Trojans HockeyOtherIs your child interested in hockey, but you're not sure where to start? Or maybe your family loves the sport but isn't ready to make a full commitment just yet? The Junior Trojans program is the perfect introduction to hockey for girls and boys ages 4–8. This program focuses on teaching basic skating and hockey skills in a fun, supportive environment. Each session includes both on-ice and off-ice instruction, designed to help your child build confidence and develop a love for the game. Participants are required to wear a helmet on the ice. Skate rental will be available. Hockey sticks and other gear are NOT required, but are welcomed. We will have a limited number available for use during class.Fall 2025 -
Kids' Company School Age Child CareKids’ Company Program Update (8/8/25) Kids' Company before- and after-school care programming is currently full, and we are no longer accepting additional contracts at this time. However, you are welcome to submit a contract request. Programming is offered to all children enrolled with New Prague Area Schools attending one of our three elementary buildings. Kids' Company is a choice based, high quality school age childcare program for children in Kindergarten-5th grade. Kids' Company is open from 6:15 am until school start time and from the end of the school day until 5:30 pm. Our programs strive to be a place where each child is a cherished and unique part of our school family. Kolacky: A Czech stapleCulinaryKolaches are a traditional daily Czechoslovakia filled sweet bread. With the immigration to America, Kolaches have evolved to look and taste different, with each baker making them to suit their region. Some are a closed bread roll, some are pastry-like and open, and yet another are more like a thumbprint cookie. All originate from Europe and all are filled with yummy preserves. Come learn about the history of Kolaches, create your own to take home, and enjoy the ethnic tastes of today. Please bring a larger flat container for your Kolaches. If you would like to bring an additional person to class to help prepare your dish(es), you may add them to your registration for an extra $5. Landscapes of Life: The Intersection of Literature and Life ExperiencesIn Your Spare TimeAward-winning author Barbara Marshak guides attendees in how to take their own life experiences, and create a short story or essay, whether it's simply the desire to share with family and friends, or written with loftier goals in mind, such as entering writing contests or submitting for publication. Barbara is a local New Prague author with over 200 published pieces and five books. All levels of writers are welcome. In preparation for class, attendees should think about "who they see as their audience and ask, which unique story is theirs--and theirs alone--to tell?" This is your chance to bring your life stories to the printed page. Let's get started! Attendees will have the option to purchase their own copy of Barbara's newest book "Landscapes of Life: A Collection of Stories & Essays" and a small, lined notebook for note taking. Let's Probate an Actual Minnesota Estate (Online)Business, Career & FinanceIn this class, we will do an in-depth walkthrough of an actual Minnesota Probate Estate from the filing of the application for probate to the final accounts - and all the steps in between. Class participants will learn the entire process with current forms, court and filing requirements, accounting and procedural steps, as well as the procedures for the sale and distribution of estate assets. We will also discuss the roles, responsibilities, and liabilities of a person who is appointed as the executor/personal representative. The class will be filled with real-life examples and solutions to the multitude of issues involving a typical (or not typical) Minnesota probate estate. This class encourages questions: Is there a “reading of the will”? What about personal items? Does the executor get paid? What about estate bills and creditors? Lifeguard CertificationThis blended learning course includes an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skills session. Online must be completed before attending the first in-class date. You will be sent the online portion approximately 1 week before the course start date. This class provides entry-level participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Requirements to become lifeguard certified are: At least 15 years of age 300 yd. endurance swim using front crawl and/or breaststroke Complete a timed skill sequence including a 20 yd. swim, retrieval of a 10 lb. object from 7 ft. deep, swim 20 yd. carrying the object and exit the water within 1 min. and 40 sec. Tread water for 2 min. using legs only In order to successfully complete this course, you must attend all sessions, achieve a score of 80% or more on two written tests, and complete CPR, First Aid, and lifeguard skills testsCategory
