Courses: Adult / In Your Spare Time -
Winter/Spring 2024
Learn how to read a pattern, basic crochet stitches, and crochet in the round, both for creating a tube and also a continuous spiral, as the foundation for hats, mittens, socks, and toys. We will also go over the basics of Tunisian crochet in the round as a comparison to traditional crochet. This is a beginner level class and supplies will be provided to learn on. For students who wish to bring their own, these are the tools we will use in class: yarn of choice, a regular or ergonomic crochet hook in a size to match the yarn, double-ended crochet hook 1-2mm larger size than recommended needle size for chosen yarn, wool needle, and scissors.

View Biography
Kristi first learned crochet from a leisure arts book back in 1988. Her grandmother was an amazing crafter, and though she didn’t spend time learning from her, she seemed to have been given her talents as she also learned to knit, cross stitch, latch hook, and embroider. Kristi learned to sew from her mother, an avid quilter, and spent many years making clothing. Kristi learned Tunisian crochet as an alternative to knitting, and first taught it as a class at the Houston Fiber Fest.
