TechAcademy: NEW! Game Coding with Star Wars
Courses: Youth / STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) -
Winter/Spring 2024
In this class, we introduce students to programming concepts using Scratch. Learn to create an interactive 2D video game using your FAVORITE Star Wars characters. Scratch is a drag and drop creative coding platform developed by MIT.
Additional Technical Requirements:
- Scratch and scratch account
- PC Needed (Windows or MacBook), will not work on Chromebooks, tablets or phones
Please review the following points:
- This class will use Zoom, a platform for video communication. If your child is unfamiliar with it, we will go over the basics at the beginning of class, but please take a moment to review the following with your child:
1.Show up 10 minutes before class time.
2.Set up a location with minimal distractions.
3.Be respectful of the teacher, other students, and the learning process.
4.Listen and click on the "raise hand" button before talking if you have questions.
5.Please stay muted on Zoom unless you have been called on when the teacher is talking.

- Your student will need the following in order to fully participate in class: a computer (Windows or MacBook), webcam, microphone, speakers, and internet.
This class requires the following programs: Scratch (this is a website accessed here).

Before class, sign up for a free Scratch account. Make sure your student has their username and password easily accessible for class!

If you are having issues entering the meeting before class, please text 612-314-3928 (don’t call) for assistance. It will only be monitored during the 30 minutes before class begins.
